The lost echo of a Irish silver token (1804) at Paddy's Reef
In the year of our King {1804} "Thats not George 111" Not By the Irish convicts and settlers they proclaimed Philip Cunningham as the Irish king of Australia. Cunningham was deported to Australia after the Irish rebellion of 1797 as convict. Convict he was not just a man fighting for the freedom of his beloved Ireland.In the year of 1804 large numbers of irish convicts rebelled against the British Colonial Govt and cruel english regiments of the New South Wales Corp {rum corp} A final battle took place at CastleHill remember as the 2nd Battle of Vinegar Hill. The Irish convicts lost and the poor irish endured a painful 50 years .When gold was discovered in 1850 the south became the colony of Victoria. Many of the irish and their by now large families moved south looking for their of share the rich grounds of the gold feilds.

yesterday afternoon i went out to the old irish diggings on Paddy's Reef.Not one of thr richest grounds but some gold yeilds made a few irishman quite rich.T thought i might try this spot with my new GPX. Mainly only worked the clear ground i could find , Far to much undergrowth and dead shrubs.The ground was free of junk, not a single pull tab or bullet. 
.yes too clean not a single target till about 2 hours later.I was working around some puddler tailings heap when a double signal.Bit confussed to start with so i turned my gain from 14 down to 7.Singled out the first target piece of horse shoe.the second came from out the side wall of the heap.So i dug in about 5 inches and the signal got a little louder.I do have one thing that disappoints be about the gpx is that it is hard to pinpoint.I,m using a 7x12 mono coil.might just try again with my setting.Well i did dig into the side of the heap about 2 feet and found this 1805 irish token. Funny i thought i would find some gold but i walked away with my oldest silver .I do admit that relics are more fun to find as gold is hard work and gets a little boring after a while.
