So I've spent the last 5 weeks down in West Virginia land clearing for a 200 mile long power line. Along the way I've discovered several old homesteads MILES back into no mans land. These places are in such remote locations I very highly doubt they have been looked upon by human eyes for many moons. The cellar holes are much different than New Englands. In this part of West Virgina (Morgantown/Fairmont) The foundations are made of large sandstone block and are not nearly as deep. I didn't have much time to detect at all...I was working 80 hour weeks. However, I did manage to get out one time to a spot I was told about. I only detected for about an hour and this is what I came up with. MY VERY FIRST SPANISH SILVER! 1808 Carolus III! ( found an inch down right in the middle of one of our skidder roads...I did not scratch this coin) A batwing buckle, and a tombac button. Cant wait to get back down there with a little more time....I'm sure theres much more. Thanks for lookin.
