Much nicer day, weather wise, but limited it to just over 4 hours.

I got about 30 of the 38 Roman Bronze Coins plus 2 Roman Silver ;D The larger one (Gordian III) is my best one this year, in terms of condition :headbang: The smaller is a heavily clipped Siliqua 8)

I put the cent in picture to show the average size of the coins the XP hoovers up

Dad did get a solid Silver Ball Button :)

Great finish to the weekend hunt :icon_thumright:

It's amazing :o .... I have a question the small Roman coins appeared in a horizontal or vertical ....? and what kind of sound does the GMP when displayed vertically. :icon_scratch:
Greetings!

Glad you put that penny in the picture. I often wondered the size of some of the coins you were digging but never had a rreference. This helps alot. Nice dig for the silvers. That larger one is in terrific shape. Lookslike a few clips, but thatmight have been from getting beaten by the plow? Is the silver about the same size as the US cent?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you asking; If 1 of those small coin is on its edge, what does it sound like?
If so, if these small ones were on edge I would not hear them. With the settings I use (no disc, high Ses) the small ones are heard well but only at 1-2" deep.

The larger one is 23mm, the top 'clip' is an imperfection of the minting process (common on hammered coins of the period), the bottom is a small piece of damage from the ploughing. :icon_thumright:

How old do you think it is?
And what can you tell me about this other piece?

Thanks,
Dave

Yes its the silver button - probably 18th C.

At first I thought it was a Roman bronze childs ring, now I'm unsure. Looks ancient, but might have gone around a number of things :dontknow:

I know, you know how hard that is  The Siliqua is the first silver we have had of Constantius II :icon_thumright: Funny thing is, it was on the first run of the day & the larger on the last run of the day ::)

Its on a farm which we nearly gave up on (over 3000 acres), no signs on the aerials & just a gut feeling that lead me to it :icon_thumright: About 4 years ago it was virgin, now we are pretty close to clearing it, until the next deep plough. Many hundreds of acres with very little.
