Bill, I have never seen that variant either, but I like it!!! :headbang:

Troiani needs that one in his book, and it is a banner find without a doubt!

Thanks Steve..I sent Don a photo for his new book.
Here's the other one I dug 2 years ago.

If I had the money, I would try to assemble a collection of every rattlesnake button known. So far I have two of the 13 star with snake around the rim variant that you've seen (these I dug) and a Chatham Artillery "Don't Tread on Me" snake button that I bought from Rocky. You are off to a good start with two ultra rare, one of a kind, examples

I dug my Chatham Artillery button 4 miles from my house. :)

Beautiful condition, shank and all. At first glance I thought it had fallen off a biker's leather jacket. Can't get over the condition and composition for something that old. AS GOOD AS BUTTONS GET!!!

Yep, I've dug two of those. They seem to be the most common and they are usually missing the shanks. I was told by a well known button expert that with shank and silver plating they can fetch upwards of $1000, but without the shank and plating they are closer to $200.

Awesome button brother. What a beauty!

The snake reminds me of Ouroboros... a symbolic serpent. I wonder if thats what it is?

It signifies cyclicality/unity.
