Alright Kiddies........

Get out your Farmers Almanac and check for the right time
to hit the beaches. March 19th the moon will be at its closest
point to Earth in 18 years, an event that is known as a “lunar perigee”.

I hit Santa Monica Beach back in the 1980s during an extreem low tide
and couldn't believe how many coins and rings were there. But, as
luck would have it, my Garrett ADS11 wasn't really up to the job.
To much mineralization. But, I did pick up about 30 silver coins and
3 rings before the static got so bad I had to give up. Also had to send
the Garrett in, to have it cleaned and tuned.

There was one person there that I met, who had a small "beach bucket".
When I asked him if he did any good, he showed me the contents of the
bucket; it was about 3 inches deep in gold and silver rings. He said, "They're
all concentrated under the piers". I guess, broken engagements and marriages. :laughing7:

pistol perfect, I got there about an hour before the lowest point of the tide. That gave me an hour or so before the tide started coming back in. All in all, if the salt air hadn't messed up my Garrett, I would have had a little over 2 hours detecting. I was fortunate that the lowest that day was around 9:00am. I don't know what time it will be on this March 19th. I live too far inland to go myself.

Check a bookstore for 'The Old Farmers Alamanac', it will give you the high and low tides for the whole year.

Hi diggummup, thanks for the link!! Funny, I only have a "lay-mans" knowledge of the moon and tides, but I thought the lowest (and highest) tides would be at perigee. But, I noticed that the lowest shown in the link is on the 14th. :dontknow: Go figure!!

Hmm, maybe the moon "pulls" harder as it moves toward earth?
