Decided to get out today for 1 1/2 hour hunt. Hit a cellar hole I have found, and decided to try my new 4x6 Shooter coil around it. Sure glad I did....

This is how the Rosa Americana came out of the ground. WOW. Also found a neat little buckle. Coppah #1 for me this year -- and I love it...!!

Man that is awesome and very WEIRD. I was just looking in the Redbook at this coin trying to ID one of mine. Its the last thing I looked at and then you post one up! So cool! :icon_thumleft:

Very nice and great way to start the year, if you would could you pass on info to the expert collector/author on your find, he will most likely tell you the variety, but it would help his study.
Thanks

Don

Congratulations! Looks to be an excellent example! Was rather surprised at the low prices for this: it surely isn't that common a coin. Is it uncommonly collected perhaps?

Made me look again: there seems to be either a small scratch or symbol under the second A of AMERICANA. Almost looks like a fish symbol upside down. Does no one else see it?

Don - interestingly enough, I found a 1722 Rosa Americana Twopence last year (it was pretty toasted) and I am already in the finds database for that Rosa. I was looking up his email address to send him the info on this one, but couldn't find it. Thanks.

That is an awesome coin ! Based on age, condition and rarity, that is Banner worthy in my book ! Congratulations Home Run on a great find :icon_thumleft:

Nice find, Steve!

We don't see many of those dug around here. Yours came from the MA soil?
