You are correct about the date. I remember seeing one like that on here last year. The date has some religious connotation.

You're right. The date actually represents the year the saint was elected and honored. I have many like this.

its a catholic "miracolus medal " that celebrates the " mary mother of god vision -- miracle of 1830" the event occured in 1830 thus the date .

Okay....thinks for the ID help! I guess its not a very valuable piece.....it seems to light to be anything other than gold plated aluminum. thanks again for the info!

Nice medallion...even if it's not Gold.

My experience is about 50 non Gold to 1 Gold medallion (about 10 to 1 for Silver).

When you find the Gold you'll know it...keep looking.

Here's my favorite 18K found last year .. marked 750 on the back.
