Here is a pic of the token that was found in a yard that dated back to the 1850's. Not real sure what it is but it looks pretty good. Here is what it says on the front:

Normal Chapter NO. 185 R.A.M
Chartered March 14, 1913
Memphis, TN.

The Back just says One Penny. Any information would be greatly appreciated. HH

Hi, Dishinet...

Your find is a Masonic "chapter penny," a token belonging to a member of that fraternal order's Chapter 185 in Memphis, TN. The letters R. A. M. stand for Royal Arch Mason. The keystone, mallet, and chisel are all familiar symbols of Freemasonry. In the center of the keystone there is typically a circle with the letters HTWSSTKS, and in the center a small space reserved for the member's own "mark"— initial(s) or some other personal symbol. Because of that, a token of this type is also known as a "mark penny." If you do a Google or eBay search on "chapter penny" or "mark penny," you should find plenty of examples and additional information.
