Hello everyone! :hello:

As you all are well aware, some days detecting are better than others. Lately I have been about ready to tear what little hair I have left on my middle-aged head completely out! ;D
I think that if I had started to dig a lot of pull tabs today I would have broke my detector across my knee! But fear not, today was good....not great, but better than it has been in a while.

I decided to hunt a grassy area (that is dead grass now because of the drought) on a hill that overlooks the river. I have been eyeing this spot for a while and thought it would have been a good spot for a house. I was right!

It always amazes me how all traces of human activity can be completely erased in a relatively
short span of time. You would never know that people onced lived at this spot, except by what was found in the ground!

I did find quite a bit of molten lead, pieces of iron, and the usual junk but I came away with some vintage goodies too! 6 wheats 1920-D, 1927-S, 1935-D, 1942 (2) 1944......2 Buffalo's 1927-S and 1935-D and 1 merc 1943-D that cleaned up nicely, and a few relics too. Thanks for looking.

Rick

Are you positive it was an old home site? Is there any overloads or alot of old trash?
Heck, maybe an old picnic area! Whatever it is, it looks like your hunch was correct about hunting it!
Well done. Johnny

That is a good question Johnny. No, I am not positive that it was an old homesite, but I did find things you would normally find at an old homesite, like old copper electrical wire, nails, a drawer pull, a key etc. Thanks, Rick.

So I went back to this spot this morning to see what else I could find and I couldn't believe my eyes! There were big holes all over the place, that looked like they were dug with a full size shovel!!! Someone apparently was watching me yesterday and detected it after I left. Obviously a newbie or someone who just didn't give a dam.

So, instead of having a good morning detecting today,I spent it covering up someone else's flippin' holes! That is crap!
