coin of defiance [1901] "HELLO AUSTRALIA, GOODBYE REDCOATS"

hi everyone.Today is monday and after work today i went for a swing and a look at a once local pic-nic ground. The reserve was used between 1890 to about the late 1940,s.The biggest day of the year at this location was the AUSTRALIA DAY PIC-NIC [january 28].Local families gathered here for a day of family sport, lunch and a few to many beers. ;D ;D ;D I know about the beer bit because of the amount of press crown beer bottle tops, i found.i also found this australia threepence 1921 [silver] and this defaced english threepence that had finely engraved on it. "helo"[hello].In my opinion this coin was defaced as a last act of defiance to english rule of Australia. After 1901 Australia got independance from british rule. These coins are very small and i have done my best to get a pic.theres 3 coins in the pic and 2 were found and the third i put in the pic to show what an english threepence looked like.I managed to get a pic of the pic-nic day at the reserve in the late 1940,s.This to me is awsome find and a real keeper.thanks for looking

Nice coins! Not only do you find pre-decimals, but, you find pre-decimals with a story behind them!!!
Awesome.

Cheers,

Jesse

P.S. How many pre-decimals do you find? Just wondering.

Another very good post tinpan. These old timers loved their get-togethers in the park.

People today don't realize how heavily parks and other public meeting grounds were used back 50+ years ago before computers and TV came along.

And too, as for the defaced coin, I used to find ancient coins in my uncleaned coin lots that had been defaced once the depicted Emperor was no longer in power. It was cool seeing the sword marks across the face of the coin.
