coin of defiance [1901] "HELLO AUSTRALIA, GOODBYE REDCOATS"
hi everyone.Today is monday and after work today i went for a swing and a look at a once local pic-nic ground. The reserve was used between 1890 to about the late 1940,s.The biggest day of the year at this location was the AUSTRALIA DAY PIC-NIC [january 28].Local families gathered here for a day of family sport, lunch and a few to many beers. I know about the beer bit because of the amount of press crown beer bottle tops, i found.i also found this australia threepence 1921 [silver] and this defaced english threepence that had finely engraved on it. "helo"[hello].In my opinion this coin was defaced as a last act of defiance to english rule of Australia. After 1901 Australia got independance from british rule. These coins are very small and i have done my best to get a pic.theres 3 coins in the pic and 2 were found and the third i put in the pic to show what an english threepence looked like.I managed to get a pic of the pic-nic day at the reserve in the late 1940,s.This to me is awsome find and a real keeper.thanks for looking
