I am SHOCKED, SHAKING and in DISBELIEF!!!

I did the best I can to take a pic to show you guys, and if you look, you will see the DOT!
Posting a few pics of it and what the book shows.

I know this will have to be "authenticated" as there have only been 4 confirmed but, I'm crossing my fingers and praying that it is indeed an original!

Here's a closer view enlarged by PBK ~ thanks PBK! ;)

Wezie Thats a once in a life time find great job.... Romeo is right I know a little about the authentic process where ever that coin goes you stay with it DO NOT let it out of your sight no matter who is looking at it. Some people will try and dis-credit it in order to keep the others more valuable. Dont trust anyone with it without you being there. Finds like this makes us all proud. Good Luck..

What a THRILL to find this!! Keep a cool head though, because counterfeit 1936 pennies do abound.

Whoa I sure hope that is authenticated and with a good high grade for you. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I ever found something of that value.

Will be keeping my fingers crossed for you. I sure hope it's what it appears to be and brings you much much more if you are deciding to sell.

Congratulations,

Found in a grass area and it was approx 3" to 4" deep! I use a Teknetics pinpointer which helped to locate it ( love my pinpointer ) I left at approx 9:30 am to go hunting....there was frost on the ground and was difficult to dig. But, a few hours later with the sun shinning, it got a little easier.

Thanks for the close ups Bulgarian and to all for the well wishes ;)

Wezzie, not much more I can add to this thread, everyone has already done a great job of expressing our awe over the coin and our congratulations to you. Have you tried to push on the dot with your fingernail to see if it pops off? Then you'd know immediately if it was a fake. I'm thinking it's THE REAL DEAL because it's been in circulation and would have come off by now if it was a phoney. (Or I guess it could have been securely soldered on if a fake, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's THE REAL DEAL!!!!)

Hey treasure hunters, this is another case of the lowly cent coin being highly valueable. Comparing face value to collectible value, cents can provide the biggest return. Take, for example, the 1931S US Cent in Good condition. If you dig it up and it's in Good condition, it could bring around 30 dollars. That's a 3,000 percent return, how many other coins can boast that? Don't turn your noses up at cent coins, EVER, there are many, many cents that can be worth a pretty penny (if you'll pardon the pun).

Re: OMG... Think I've Found a 1936 Dot Penny...

Is it me or is the dot too far left and higher than the dot in the reference copy?

Using Photoshop I see this. I don't know how the counterfits look though.

I hope that I am wrong :(

I was just about to post the same, dots are off..... may be a counterfeit. Worth sending it in for certification though, just to see. :)

I hope I'm wrong, but it does look too high and close to the date. I really, really hope that it's just a variation though and that you have found the Holy Grail of Canadian coins! That would be about te most valuable coin I have seen found by one of our members in the 1 1/2 years I've been around. Good luck and fingers crossed!
