Found this today. Its a 1845 one and half pence. I think its sterlin silver and hate to admit but i think i cut the side bit whilst digging it. Very careless, ive been doing detecting for a few years now and this is the first time ive damage a find. I had to research this coin as i had no idea it existed untill today. Still dont know a whole lot so any info would be great. Thanks for checking it out, ade

I dug a large penny signal about 7 inches and found half a can, when i rechecked the hole i was getting a decent signal and this was just in the wall of my plug

What you have is a silver three half pence struck for use in the colonies , very often they were mounted as jewelery and appear "nibbled where they were soldered" see the link. Hutch.

That is a fascinating find ! I don't believe I have ever seen another one posted in my years on this forum ! I'm curious to know if
our UK friends find these occasionally ? Argentium. (I also have a thing for Vickie silvers !!!)
