Got out in the woods today to do some hunting before the deer ticks come back out. There's still some snow cover keeping the ticks at bay. Here's some shots of the woods and some lucky finds I made.

Excellant finds...im going to do some more hunting too, before thoses darned deer ticks come out! I'm out in MA and theres about a 12" of snow out.
But i would rather hunt the woods in the snow, then with the ticks. :D

Congrats on the silver! Very nice. I did a nice hunt at an old ruin last summer deep in the forest, picked 8 ticks off my body afterwards and missed one that got me. HH, Mike

Great dimes there skierbob. Congrats! I've had Lyme Disease, it's much better to avoid it than to treat it.

Thanks for the compliments, folks. Just got back from a ski club meeting. Had to pick up airline tickets for the club's Winter Park, Colorado trip on March 29.

T-tales, I had the Lyme disease shots a few years ago, but I don't know for sure if I'm immune. I heard the Pharmaceutical company has withdrawn them from the market for one reason or another. Anyway, I hate those creepy little suckers, can't stand having them on me. I've spent tons of money on tick sprays, trying to keep them off me. Around here, they're a hardy breed and they're out most of the winter, unless it stays below 30 degrees for few weeks and/or there's about 6-8 inches of snow on the ground. Strangely, they seem to disappear in the summer, at least around here. It's different over in Jersey, but then everything is.

Keith, The ground was thawed out last week before the big ice/snow storm. I actually picked 2 deer ticks off me last week. Now, with the ice and snow melting, the ground is turning to mud. I'm talking about the woods, of course. I don't know what the ground is like out in the open.

Somebody asked about the dime on the right. Yea it is pretty nice. It's a 1925, but it's got a little blob of crud right over the 5. Not sure how I can get it off without over-cleaning. Well, happy hunting, everybody.

Sherm,
Sorry, I had other shots of the woods, but I erased them and just kept the 2 from the area near where I found the dimes. I forgot to mention that I also found 4 wheaties and 3 memorials. I also found a set of deer antlers sticking out of the snow.

Excellent coins Bob!

I've tried to go in the woods like you do, but I haven't had any luck so far. Any tips?

There's an old high school in my town with woods around it. I keep thinking there might be some old coins out there. I just can't find them.

Anyway. Congratulations!

Ridley
