I REALLY DON'T THINK I'M OFF TO A GOOD START !! MY FIND FOR TODAY

I just don't know ?? here I have found a large ax head. I'm sure it is Iron Age It was about a foot deep and I only had a small hand spade !! My machine kept reading coin > I thought I had found a treasure !!!

Boy, digging with only a hand spade must have made your arm pretty sore. Nice find and deep too. What machine are you using to dig that deep.

Not just my arm but my shoulders to !!! Thank goodness the field was softer dirt ! I am using a Pioneer EX from Walmart I know that it is not high tech but it picks up everything in the ground !! except old coins

treasure is in the eye of the beholder! that iron axe head is as good as a silver coin to some of the relic hunters around here!

A old axe was one of my finds the fist day I started detecting , I was tickled to death . The coins will come if you hang in there, and remember a treasure dose not always have to be in the form of silver,if you think about the history of some of the things you dig up and start asking youreself why was this in the spot I found it or who did it belong to,things like that you will soon realize treasure is not always judged in value. HH

Nice Ax head. I have found many of them large rusty stuff can fool even the best machines so don't worry. Just keep digging every signal you will hit good ones soon enough. If you haven't already you might want to make up a test garden and practice learning the different responses your machine gives and also to practice pinpointing. do you have a pinpointer? they can be very handy when looking for that elusive square nail .

It doesnt matter the machine your using, just have to spend time with it. Sounds like your getting some good dept with that one!!! It took me months just to dig a wheatback penny, after about 8 months I dug a silver, more than a year I finally got into another silver!

One question, how many old axe heads did you have before that one??

Don't get discoraged...we all dig our share...the coins will come.

It is treasure...It once was lost and now it is found...clean it up and keep it somewhere you will see it every day...trust me you will come to admire it as your first find and it will give you a constant reminder of how much you enjoy your hobby...
