I hunted a park today that is right next to a cemetary with graves as old as 1811. I wasn't finding much in the park, so i decided to try the gravel parking lot which was probably 50 yards from the cemetary gate. My first hit was an 83 on my AT Pro, and I was shocked to see it was a barber dime. It was even more exciting because it was my first 1800's coin in the year and a half that I have been detecting. 1898. After that I found a toasted wheat penny and 2 silver roosevelt dimes that are also too far gone to see a date. I only scanned a small portion of the parking lot and park before I got rained out. I will go back next week to try to get more silver. Thanks for looking and HH!

Great haul. Barber and Rosie's are awesome finds that many wait a long time for. Get back to that site a swing low and slow and clean it up.HH

Thanks! Those are usaully very rare finds for me too, I guess I just lucked out that the park hasn't been scanned too much. Next time I go I will try every tone above 40 to make sure I get everything.

I just scratch tested my roosevelt dimes because I had my doubts they were silver, and from the scratched off parts I can see a lot of copper making me think they're clad? Any ideas?

If you are seeing copper, then yes they are clad..think of it this way, it's 10 cents that you didn't have before.
