A man I know asked me to help him learn how to use his metal detector in his yard and said "keep anything you find for helping me out". At the very end of the hunt I gave his yard another try with my detector and got a good deep hit. Out popped a 1871 quarter. I felt a little bad but he instantly said "your find" and insisted I take it. He said he learned a lot and was finding more modern coins all over the place pretty quick and a dinky car that he was happy to find. The quarter is badly toned but it has a lot of detail left but it was hard to get a decent picture. It looks a lot better in person even though it doesn't compare to my 1887 quarter I found awhile back. Thanks for looking! :)
