image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg My grandfather found this pine tree shilling coin in the 50's or 60's. I am not sure if it authentic or not. It is real diver and has corrosion. It looks like it may have been shaved at one point. My major concern is the T that appears above the 1652. If anyone could give me some info I would appreciate it I don't wanna spend money for authentication if it's fake

Photos would really help, if you gave photos I have a feeling that someone could tell you if it's real of not, without photos there is no way to tell.

Trust me he knows. He id'd mine and nailed the variety even. I know it's a bummer but at least you know.

If I.P. says it's not genuine then it's not. It's still a neat coin though.

Probably somewhere it's written "one is not to second guess the spandex knowledge"

Cool coin though.

Looks like silver-plated cast Zinc.

Probably a poorly cast pewter copy. I had a feeling that IP would help ID it once you had photos.

Wow, that is a bummer. The Pine Tree is probably among the most sought after coins from the early days of our nations history. I think the stars and moon have to align perfectly, and the hunter has to extra ugly to ever find one. ......... waiting on Abe's response .... ha ha !

Thanks for the input... I thought it might not be real just wishful thinking. But I am pretty sure it's solid silver

Because the picture says it all. It looks like a cast plated copy and not a hammered silver coin. If I had some doubt I would say so, but for this one I would bet my house on.
