This is from a few hunts this fall, today I found the flat buttons, This was from another location that is near an old grist mill ( 1747 ) its about 300 feet from the mill , I cant get to the mill since its private prop. This site is down river on a hill, I am not finding coins but I am finding some flat buttons. The coins are from another location that has been giving up Indians and I did get my first shield nickle. I just started to use the Tejon and am loving the change from the AT pro. Don't get me wrong I like the Pro and it will be used but I needed to jump to the next level with depth and learning how to really judge sound, The Tejon is fun as hell to use. I did get the oldest flat button ( i think ) so far, its the one that looks like its cast, 3 views on the picture bellow 5th picture bellow. This is most of the good stuff I found on these 2 sites this past 2 months. Still no large cents this year for me :icon_scratch:

Anyone know a good reference to determine age on a unmarked flat button, how do you know 1600' or 1700's I have a few ideas but always welcome more info

Nice Finds! Thanks for putting the pictures up and especially the ones with both sides of the coins. I appreciate it and know that takes time. Interesting buttons and always nice to pull up a ring.

You have some early buttons there, 18th century buttons. That spot should have an old copper or two.
