I had to run to my favorite colonial era fields. I spent two hours total. Dug this awesome condition 1837 large cent and then a few min later a worn connec. Copper. Thank you for looking
Here's a closer pic. This is about the 50th or so post colonial era coin that I've dug in this area. These were dug in what I've called a plume. In a strip about 50 yards long 20 feet wide. 20 coins or so in that strip. There was a house at one point in the field. I assume it burned as I found a thimble with a piece a chared wood in it. There must have been a pot or jar with coins in it when it went down. Then they farmed over the site. I'm not really sure if that's the facts. Also found numerous buttons spoons knick knacks..brick.glass shells.
You must be on some good ground. Make sure you go back and try again. We all miss something. The CT is a Draped Bust Facing Left variety. It the most common type of CT and there are many different varieties of this type. Most are 1787's although they made a couple of varieties in 1786 and some in 1788. Nice finds.
Nice finds Tony.
The site you are working is very similar to one I have been working
The past couple of years.I have found a few large cents, king George and even an 1803 half dime.
I can't wait to get back out hunting. Thanks for sharing.
Nice coppers ! Connecs make for a good day .
So many varieties ,and the rarest oddball varieties are worth a few $checkle$ . More are hiding ,
