Today went back to the pond were I found the 8 reale a few months ago.
It was really hot, and things were slow. So I decided to go into the woods a little to get out of the sun.
I am so glad I did.. 5 minutes in there I get real nice high tone on the CTX 1345/1246. New it was going to be silver or a LC, it said 6inches, so I take my time and cut a nice plug flip it over a right there was a handsome guy with a big nose looking right at me..LOL the 2reale!!! This is my first 2reale, found half ones 1reales, cut 4reale, and my big 8reale..
You know I was happy..
Especially since I whatched CJON, pull a 1728 Pistareen out right in front of me at this site with my machine!!!! Lol.
So now I am really excited and I am going to slow down and really pound this area.. About 20min later I get almost the same signal, and my heart is pounding, it tells me this one is 8inch down, i cut the plug and its even deeper. I found it and take it out I look at it a i think its a one reale..
I wipe a little dirt of and see seated liberty, and say oh a quarter cool.
Put it in my bag and keep detecting.
Not much after that.
So I go to my truck and text Bill D a pic of the 2reale. Then he calls me and were talking. I tell him i also found a seated quarter and i grap it out of my pouch and say hey it seems smalller???? Thats weird..
I turn it on to the back a can just make out 20 ce..
I say get the hell out of here, its a 20 center... I always wanted to find one since i started detecting. After I found my first 2center, i found out they made different monies..lol
2 cents, 3cents, half cents, half dimes and the elusive 20centers!!!!
Now my weird cents are COMPLETE. .LOL.
Thanks for looking and enjoy the pics.

That is incredible Vino! Love it! I can't wait to get back home up that way and do some more detecting as well. Been looking at old river/stream areas and ponds that may have been in use for a long time. Hope I can find stuff like THAT!

Thanks Steve,
I thought the reale was a Mexico mint mark?

Mintmark-P, or P with star above, or L, or LM, or LIMA, or a slightly overlapped ME. Lima has the distinction of being the only mint to strike all five of the coin types. Pillar type cob - (1568-1571), shield type cob - (1572 and 1577-1588), pillars and waves type cob - (1659-1660 and 1684-1752), milled pillar - (1752-1772), and milled bust - (1772-1824).
The first dated coin was struck in 1659.

Yours has the overlapped ME George. Mexico just has M with small circles.

George if you still need someone to shoot the snakes lurking around the pond just let me know. For some reason my wife is always reminding me how good a shot she is

Early transactions must have been a nightmare. Can you imagine having to add "two bits" to "two bits minus five cents"?

The conversion from bits to cents would have precluded me ever buying anything.
