The total in change recovered from this tennis ball added up to $2.67 plus 3 tokens, found 5 inches down in the sand near some swing sets at a local park.

Maybe from a previous metal detecting venture for young children?

What a cool find! I've seen those guys that sell peanuts and sodas at stadium events use those tennis balls like that. They would throw them to someone in the middle seats and the person would put their money in it and throw it back. Nice find!
