I went back to try and find some more bottles, I took Joe who found a 1880 IHC. He was very happy, said it was his oldest to date IHC, nice green patina on it. (I forgot to get a pic of it) I dug up wider where I found the bottles, after about an half hour I decided I could not handle it physically. It's not going anywhere so maybe when I'm feeling up to it I'll dig deeper. I spent the rest of the day meandering around the hayfield finding 7 buttons, one gold gilt the other is a damaged Eagle button.
Enjoy the pix

Thanks, it has been such a great site, there are so many spots in that field that I have not yet been.
I held out for the clear signals, that gilded button sounded very nice and rang 91, I thought for sure I had a silver, that little bit of gold sounds sweet.

Thanks, it's a big field, here is a pic of Scrappy to give ya some perspective on the size of the field.

Yes. I'm 6' tall, FYI. My guesstimate the field is about15 acres. If you divided that field in 4 sections and gridded each one, you'd surely get your colonial silver out of there Brad. Probably much more

Great hunt Brad! Hope you can dig more bottles out of that hole. Glad you rescued that eagle button before it was totally toasted.

I have done hours of gridding in that hayfield, it is much harder to grid then all of my other fields. It is extremely easy to get off course and not know it. I normally, by dragging my crazy shovel behind me leave a trail to go by. Plus I have only gone in one direction, still to come back a different direction and sometimes still go in the same direction and still find keepers. I'm claiming now, that next fall, after the farmer gets his hay out of that field there will be a whole new batch of coins everywhere. I'm not even close to being anywhere near done in that field.

That is a awesome place for sure Brad, Great Job again!! Have all my reservations set... It will be nice to have some vacations after all this Overtime with the Dam here :)
Thanks Ken
All looks good, I look forward to trying some new and old spots with you when you get out.

Thank you.
I need a backhoe Brad, I'm having some physical problems, scheduled surgery March 27th, a few weeks after that things should be much better. For now I have to pace myself. I have been poking around other new fields every few days and hold these couple good ones in reserve hoping to find that early american silver I want so bad. Some day I'll hit a spot and it will be there. I just feel its a matter of time.

Another nice hunt - it's great when those buttons come out with some gilt left on them! :icon_thumright:
