Today I decided to try an experiment.

I went to a local farm field that I pass every day. I have permission for it and actually
did hunt it a couple times. BUT.....that was about 5 years ago! Back when I was a newbie to
both, the farm field hunting and to my ATP. I remembered that I didn't find a blessed thing
back then and so it was easy to pass it up on my way to greener pastures. ;)

Anyway, I thought I'd experiment by bringing my 5 years of added experience in stumbling and machine.

I think it's a success, so far. I collected some iron as well to see if any of
the *real* relic hunters might recognize anything. I wouldn't usually keep these things
but, maybe that's part of why I don't find much in a farm field.

So, as this experiment continues, over time, feel free to speak up if you think this site shows
any promise.

I kept these two oddly shaped rocks because
as far as finding points, etc, I am STILL very much the newbie.
So, I'm trying to train my eye to see them better.
If these might be tools, please let me know.

(Don't think Blingie's very interested.)

Fishy seems happy but he's ALWAYS happy!
He seems to know how to live! ;)

The finding of a "coin" of *ANY* kind makes this
a successful experiment! Even a whole wheat toast!
19?? -d penny

Whatcha think? Should there be a part 2? :icon_scratch:
BTB...total time was 3 hours. :dontknow:

I don't particularly care for fields unless there was a house once upon a hundred or so years ago

Well the square nails are a good sign of an older building. The chain is farming equipment related I believe. As for the rocks, I don't believe they're tools, but not always able to tell without seeing in person. I think the site deserves more time. Good luck and Keep Swinging!!

You'd better hurry. There's one aspect of the relic hunting that I'm having ever more trouble with, the stumbling. :(
I am still in pretty good shape, but...I'll tell ya, I am hating the stumbling more and more. That should be good news for you guys.
Means you'll have 1 less competition. ;) Sorry, give me a beach or a lawn ANY day. :dontknow:

But thanks for the comment and the encouragement!

The square nails would keep me going. I like fields with the AT-PRO for this reason:

*iron grunt* *iron grunt* *iron grunt* (1 hour later) *iron grunt* *iron grunt* BEEP

In my experience, nine times out of ten, that beautiful high tone is going to be something farm animal related, but that tenth time might just be the old coin you're seeking.

I'd go back, but I prefer the fields. You can be searching and all of a sudden come on some pottery or bricks and be in the middle of a hot spot, that keeps giving the good stuff

I'm afraid that the only thing out-standing in my field, was me. :tongue3:
At least I don't need to worry about gas rebate, I can walk to this one.

About the rare thingy? I'm sure that one day I'm going to post some piece
of flotsam here one day and somebody's gonna speak up and say,
"WHADI!?!?!?! DO YOU KNOW what you got there!!!! "

At least I hope so! ;)

Thanks!

I sense that this could be the beginnings of a series of very educational posts on the transition into becoming a Relic Hunter.
Congratulations

Hope springs eternal and the well is far from dry!

One of these days you will stumble onto to that long ago hidden stash of old silver & gold coins that have aged well and have the value to prove it!

Nice bunch of relics!
I kinda like the manure spreader....it has character!
