It only takes one target to make the hunt and I got it on the return lap of the long field. One spoon, two plough points, and one little 1891 Five Cent piece, bitterly known as a fish scale. One silver one big field I'm happy.http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php?coin=5-cents-1891&years=5-cents-1858-1941

WTG shes sweet ...:icon_thumright:

Thanks Pirate

I haven't heard they are more plentiful out here, but if my dig ratios are any evidence I'd have to agree. Since 2010 I've dug 28 fish scales, yet only 6 Canadian large cents.

I bet you've dug an endless pile of large cents, how many fish scales have you unearthed?

I have no idea on the ratio but I've only dug 2 fish in the last few yrs, but a lot of LCs in that time. My record keeping sucks, I hate paperwork, and that would be a negative for me if I went down that road.:laughing7:

Gotta love the rare times they come out looking that good. They're rare enough to even find let alone in that condition. Awesome find! [emoji2][emoji106]

Thanks Kiddo

That Fish Scale is a nice coin. Good find!

Thanks scruggs

What a beauty. Must've been little used when dropped. Congrats. Never found one and likely never will.

Thanks gwdigger

Never say never as they came out in 1858 so they're out there. It happens where something turns up in the strangest spot and it's one of those :icon_scratch: moments.
Best of luck on your next outing.
