Went on a short visit of a friend in Quebec city. I only had one day to detect, so we went on a hunt in one of our favorite spots that we have hunted extensively in the past. The permission used to have a very old road gong through it making it rich in relics and occasional coins. Wasn't expecting anything exceptional, just some quality detecting time in good company. Towards the end of the day, I still managed a nice silver plated buckle of unknown age, a few early flat buttons and musket balls. Was getting ready to head back when I got a deep but solid signal on Deus. Was very excited, as at first I thought it was a Real coin. When I removed the dirt and saw what it really was, my jaw dropped...

My very first British 20th Regiment of foot Revolutionary War button. On top of this, it's a rare early type (''m'' in the book). The condition of the button is just mind blowing, never seen one in such a great shape. Being deep must have helped with it's conservation.

I couldn't be happier and it was well worth the long trip. A nice little hunt!

Love the historic old button. It is in great condition considering how long it has been waiting for you to recover it. Beautiful buckle and other buttons as well. Excellent day out in the company of friends. Can't beat that!:hello2::headbang:

I've had the silver plated officers one with the wreath, but no pewter version yet. Great condition again.

Geez I get a tingly feeling looking at the green patina of the button, huge congrats on the recovery!

There's something about those deep sounding finds that one just has a feeling it's going to be sweet, not even dug yet but one seems to know somehow.
Thanks for the post up on this very wet Nate rain day. Happy Turkey Day
