Hello folks, been sometime since I've been on here but I can tell you I've not stop doing what some of you on here may remember me doing. That's finding old stuff. I posted this in the fossil forum yesterday after I got it cleaned up some more.I found it Sunday afternoon metal detecting & it was dark before I finally got it dug out. So it soaked all day Monday while I worked until I got home. That's when I started trying to get the clay & shell off & posted it in fossil forum asking a few questions. I still think I can get it a little cleaner so it continues to soak today & likely I'll try again tomorrow. The metal detecting finds we're limited that day cause of the tusk find but I'LL add them to this post.

That really is an amazing find, especially since you found the whole thing. There should be more of the animal there (bones, the other tusk, teeth, etc.) so I would highly recommend doing some more digging around the spot where you found the tusk. That is a banner find-my vote is in.

Great find. You might make getting it properly preserved a priority. I know of one found in a quarry near here and was given to a friend of mine. He put it up in a cabinet and just left it alone. When he went back to get it it was a pile of dust. Just a thought.

I know what you are saying. Found quite a few fossils, teeth, bonesin the past. This is a first & the coolest. I've done well with my other things I've found. But for sure I what to get it right as best I can. 000_0148.jpg IMG_20170916_214828498.jpg IMG_20170916_223003304.jpg IMG_20170916_222953150.jpg IMG_20170916_222940257.jpg IMG_20170916_222900844.jpg IMG_20170916_214849542.jpg IMG_20170916_214812395.jpg IMG_20170916_214716095.jpg IMG_20170916_214603584.jpg IMG_20170423_173155936.jpg IMG_20170423_173030702.jpg IMG_20170423_172832352.jpg

Pretty much got it cleaned up tonight. Now when I get some time again I'LL start the putting it back together process. It measures 41 1/2 inches in the pics without the other pieces. And as I said a good foot was completely gone. IMG_20171108_223214814.jpg IMG_20171108_223143887~2.jpg

Impressive to say the least! Congrats on saving the tusk and I hope you show us all the reconstruction/restoration completion. Thanks for posting up again, for this Banner worthy find.
BTW the display room is very nice, no it's just sick.

Your collection is awesome and should be the envy of any treasure hunter! Congrats on the unbelievable tusk you happened to stumble upon. Like many have posted before me, who would ever think to have one of those on their bucket list? Banner vote!
