I decided to try a field that I got permission to hunt a couple days ago where there was an old School shown on My 1909 Plat Map. First good signal I got was some old foreign coin. I'll have to clean it before I'll be able to figure it out. Has a lion standing on one side. The next signal was reading as a 12:40 both way. When I dug this up I was quite surprised!! 1901 Barber Quarter. The numbers were off , but I'll take it. A 1907 Indian and 3 wheats. Turned out to be a productive hunt. Thanks for looking. HH

Very odd for location, but the foreign coin at the old School was Belgium.

Great finds.Alot of people will tell you,"That place is hunted out". That's bull. Yes the 3 to 6" stuff maybe be depleted but there is always another layer of targets and you just proved it. Congrats

As we "mature" in our hunting strategies and disciplines I believe we come to realize hunted out sights may mean the shallow easy pickings targets. The deeper coins being masked by iron and various other metal targets often is left behind by those who don't have the tenacity to work an iffy signal. The last two hunts I had across the street at my well pounded 1843 church have produced keeper coins and buttons. I am going much slower than I ever have in my swing speed and digging some lousy sounding signals. If the sight has old history I say dig it all up and you'll be surprised with your efforts. Darn nice coins and excellent hunt buddy. NEVER HUNTED OUT!!!:headbang:

Congrats on all the great finds! Probably a stupid question, but there wouldn't happen to be an "S" mint on the back, would there? Wishful thinking for ya!

Jeffinmass, That's one of the first things that I just looked for since I just watched a digger video and a guy on it found a 1901 S and just sold it for $6500.00. Unfortunately it's just a plain 1901, but a Great Find to Me.
