Thursday my friend and I pulled over at a cornfield thats part of the oldest farm in the county. Right near the Connecticut river. We got out and knocked the farm house but no answer so we walked over to the cow barns and I was petting a Jersey calf when the farmer pulled up on his tractor with a load of manure in tow. We asked if we could detect part of the corn field he had harvested and he said go for it.

We started near the farm house and my friend nabbed an IHP and I got some melted aluminum that sounded sweet. We started trekking towards the back of the field and things were really quiet. My friend pulled a couple more relics and then we went to the car for a drink. We decided to head back towards the house to finish up our last free hour before we each had to go to work. I dug the mystery item (coin?) then got over the 1865 IHP and then the 2 piece button. My friend also dug a mystery item (coin?) then is the same shape but a different size. It is slightly smaller but his looked like it had a definite cross on it and on mine you can kind of see part of a cross or two parallel lines. In person, you can see a little more detail. and what looks like a perpendicular line, making the cross.

Yesterday we tried a new spot and got a couple buttons and decided to cross the brook and head to the spot I got the Fugio last week. I was swinging the road and got my first watch winding key. We putted past that and went up the steep hill/cart path and came across a new cellar with lots of swingable area. He got a religious pendant off the bat and I got the half shoe buckle frame. He wandered off and I pulled 2 more buttons and got a sweet high tone that was showing deep. Out came the 1838 LC. I met back up with him and we had to pack it up for the day. We'll be going back tomorrow (saturday) with our other detecting friend and were going to pound that new cellar for all its worth.

Thanks for looking. If anyone can help ID that mystery item id greatly appreciate it. I think its copper or bronze.
