The winds were COOKING when I went out. They had been high the night before and were still moving pretty good. I was hoping that finally some sand had moved and just had to get out and see despite the cold temps (in the teens) and the 25+ MPH winds. The winds were so strong and at the right angle that the waves were moving parallel to the beach, looked like a fast moving river.

To say there were targets was an understatement......there were TONS! In some spots there were 2-3 to a hole and I couldn't move more than a few feet till I was digging again. There were a bunch of coins and stuff along the way that were exposed and just laying there, frozen to the upper beach. Had to pry a couple of em out with the tip of the scoop. Because there is so much lead, copper and stainless steel that was exposed I had to pretty much dig everything as so much of it sounded like gold. It took a while but I finally found a large, thin gold band. 10K, 1.1 grams. Also found a couple of silver dimes and a SS ring with the EKG symbol on it, it too was exposed and frozen to the upper beach.

Great day of hunting BUT, not as good as Part II which will follow shortly.....Went back today and MAN it was even BETTER! More to follow in Part II!
