Spur From the Chisholm Trail......My first.... !!!!UPDATED!!!! Spur ID'd!!!!!!!

I'm posting this in Today's Find even though it was found this weekend because I know there are several experts on this Forum.....I've posted it already in the Club hunts forum for all the folks at the CTH hunt to see.... Now it's your turn.....I'd like to appeal to the Relic hunters out there. I know there are folks out there that have been relic hunting for years and surely have found lots of Spurs. If you veterans of relic hunting have any info on the Spur please let me know.
Went to Calwell, KS this weekend for a wonderful hunt with a group from Tnet that make it a point to get together at least once a year....I assure you it's more of a family reunion than it is a competive hunt. That's the caliber of folks at our hunts. Anyway, after the main hunts of the weekend our host, Burdie and Stoney took us to one of there spots that was on the Chisholm Trail. I won't get into the history of the CT as most of us are history buffs and know all we can know. We only hunted a short while and some nice items were found. Burdie himself found two Indian head pennies within short time. Some other nice relics were found as well so that ought to tell you what a good site this is. As I said, this is my first Spur. Burdie said that it is one of the most ornate spurs he's ever seen. Texas connection thought that it may be Mexican in origin. I haven't cleaned it up yet as I am still excited about the find and can't stop looking at it.
Thanks to all that look. As I said, if anyone has any info or comments about it let me know.

Thanks greatly,

ridge_runner

My thoughts exactly... put that sucker in a frame and you'll have a great, one-of-a-kind display.

I appreciate all the replies folks.....Cleaned the spur up some....The only writing on the spur was on the inside. As far as I could tell anyway. It said Patented and underneath that was the letter E and the number 24....

HH to all,

Hey ridge, I always heard that some of the actual spur part were made of silver! Go back to Caldwell and find that piece! Nice item there.

Check out this site and many of the links.
I believe that you are looking a the mid 1800's.
The spanish influence is obvious ing the front and back design.
I will look at a few other sources and let you know if I find anything else.
No matter what. That spurs is FANTASTIC!!!

This is a US Army Officers spur, Late Pattern 1859 . Fairly common to the Civil War. A good spur to find . I have seen this type found in Georgia. Photos are from author R Stephen Dorseys book "The American Military Spur"

Earl,

Wow man, you found it. I reasearched and researched.... This is why we post our finds. I knew someone out there would either know how to research it or just know. Awesome!!!!
It's definately the top one in the first pic and bottom in the second pic. After cleaning it more detail has come out. The strap box is designed exactly the same. With the small holes or punches. Too bad it's not complete but you know what.....being my first spur and now that you've Id'd it for me it doesn't matter the value.....I love the spur and now am glad that it has and era.....

To all others that posted a reply, thanks for admiring my find as I am very proud of it. Also thank you for the references and opinions. I am grateful. To my buds from the CTH hunt, I'm missing you guys already.

Thank you very much Earl......I really can't thank you enough....
