there are ways of returning them or sending them to someone who cares - meaning someone that keeps track of such things
there was a guy on one of the forums that used to send them to some organization that used to like to get them back to catalog
them i guess - i have found a few and was gonna try to send them in if i could find the place- i hunt farm fields that have many
types of game birds banded - turkey- pheasants quail etc

It is a pigeon band. The AU stands for Amateur Union which was for racing. There is a website, where you can get the info on where the pigeon was from and who may have owned it. I have found a few of the pigeon bands. Just google or use startpage.com : racing pigeon clubs or homing pigeons and you will be able to start your search. Nice find.
