That is a sad place. I guess it is true, we are all just a number (and apparently have been for a long time according to that headstone key).

Maybe it was a privacy thing or a cost saving measure. Half of the "stones" are steel which they stamped with a number. Thanks for looking

Sad site. Some of the people seem to have died on the same day or a few days a part. Wondering if there was some kind of epidemy in that hospital.

We have an old Psych. Hospital used as a MAX Security PRISON in Virginia; visited there, when it was a PH... CRAZY! As a prison, it was HAUNTED, & inmates HATED it! Warden lived on the grounds...

I knew John (the Warden), personally; his was a Medium Security Prison. Inmates hear whispering, foot-steps "padding around", "ppl" looking into inmate rooms & "pod areas"... SPOOKY STUFF! ANYWAY...

Yes that is sad. Pretty much every state had these large hospitals for the insane. That is what they were called back then. Georgia's main insane asylum was a large cluster of old 3 story brick buildings in Milledgeville, GA.

In the 70's and 80's they closed them all (budget problems) and not those troubled people are simply out on the streets as homeless people. At least back then we tried to take care of them.

wheres my plot ? i there should be one reserved for me ? I TOOK ENOUGH PILLS TO QUALIFY. whether you know it or not ? everybody could be diagnosed with some mental illness. if u have a brain u fall into some category. DOH !
