Nice finds Texan. I'm still looking for the elusive shield nickel.

By the way, check Merf's post again with the heart buckle. (I believe you said you found one also) I included a couple of pictures of ones currently being sold on E-bay.

Crazy huh!! I have many shield nickles and seated coins but the mid 19 century silver is still eluding me.
Thanks for the info on the heart buckle, had to dig it out of the keeper junk box and put it a little higher on the list.

NICE BUTTON! Congratulations on an excellent historical find right around the old homestead even! Thanks for posting the photo of it. Hope you find a few more just like it around there.

Nicely done!!

I found an eagle button over the weekend in Illinois ???. . . no back-printing, just a reenactor's button >:(.
Good luck on the Shield!

Take care,

Good assortment of keepers there. Is the shield with or without rays? I wish I could complain about finding only seated silver :'(. Seems all I ever find is those pesky mercs and barbers :P. You take me to a site I can find a large cent and two or three seateds and I put you on some sites where you can dig mercs till your face turns blue. Nice finds there!

No rays, I think I might get a date on it, but I'm out of vinager just been soaking in soapy water. I do have a 1866 rayed nickle though that I found in a dug up alley in Calvert.
