Against my better "relic hunting" judgement we tried something diffrent and hit an old school yard. Ty wanted to bring his little buddy from next door, poor kid didn't sleep all night, and they were ready for 7 am. I wasn't! :D Deven is 7, he was busily pocketing every piece of aluminum, foil, coin we dug, it was all cool to him. :D So we now have another future hunter in our midst. His parents even offered for us to do there yard. Sweet!

I was picking on Dan "Look Deven, Dan has to dig to China to find his target, we are popping them right out" :D Well there is a scream from across the field, then Ty joins in, Deven and I drop everything to run over for a look. Dan says "look what was in china!" 1941 walking liberty half dollar. Dug what would have been a nice little baseball button, little corroded. Got a bunch of clad, the oldest was a 68 dime, close but no cigar.

So it was diffrent, it was fun, and we got big silver! Thanks for looking!

Thanks Guys! I couldn't believe how nice the walker came out of the ground compared to the clad. We sure do have some competition growing up here. :)

Nice silver, I love the date, 1941. Someone could have been there and had that coin in their hand and dropped it while listening to the radio about the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I just love the endless historical possibilities of coins, who held it, what was going on at the time.

Thanks Sis, we had fun.

Good luck Mud, there is plenty left for everyone.

Nana I'm working on it! I did find silver last year, so I'm due this year. :)

Folks it is nice to have the kids out looking for history and not sitting in front of the TV playing video games. Only after dark at my house.

Tpmrcp, You just gave me a great idea to share with the kids. I'm going to get a list of historical facts from 41 for them. Thanks! :)

Ty, (hey you have the same name as my little buddy! :) ) I really enjoyed their enthusiasm, it doesn't last forever. That picture did come out perfect for a commercial. :icon_sunny: But......the find.......tin foil! Deven had it in his pocket in a flash. :D They detected, played on the jungle jim, detected, ran the toy car down the twisty slide (that's how those kids lose those! ;D ), detected, helped dig holes, went to the swing set, detected..........you get it. :)

Thanks Larry! Wait until the kids see this! :)
