Hey folks, it's been awhile since I've posted anything noteworthy.
I've been really busy this season, and I haven't been able to get out nearly as much as I'd like to.
I haven't had the time to do alot of research or permission seeking lately.
(Actually, most of my research is done, I just need permissions. lol.)
So I've just occasionally been going to some of my old standby spots, to try to squeeze out a few more deep and iffy signals.
Lately when I get out, it's only for about 1-2 hours in the evening.
Anyway, here's my results from the past 2 weeks.
I found the 2 center, and the 1905 injun last night. (the 2 center was about 7" deep).
The Barber dime on sunday night.
And the 17 Merc, Rosie, and 1897 injun are from last week.

My big question here though is for Ohio Jerry.

Jerry, is there any chance that I can get this 2 center to look as nice as yours??? ;D :D

Thanks for looking.
Happy hunting!
TBK.

Excellent variety of coins!!! Love the 2 cent peice! Are you gonna try the amonia and Q-tip method to try and clean it better? Either way it's a beauty!!! HH Tom

Here's the results of an ammonia treatment on the 2 Center I found last night.
I did exactly as Jerry said.
Looks pretty good to me.
I'll post before and after photos together.
It looked like the patina was starting to come off of the side with the date, so I called it a day, and threw it in some olive oil.
Also posted is a nice 1910 Barber dime I just found tonight.
Found at an old homestead about 8 inches down.
The only coin for tonight.
Thanks for lookin' again!

Nice range of coins there.
I'd sure like to find a 2 or 3 cent piece myself.

All I did was roll Q-tips, soaked with ammonia, back and forth, across the surface of the coin.
(The coin laying flat on a table.)
It takes quite a while though.
I probably used 20 Q-tips for each side of the coin.
I didn't scrub the coin at all. Just roll the Q-tip and let the ammonia do the work.
You'll know it's working when you see the Q-tips turning black.
They kinda fall apart quick though, that's why you'll end up using so many.
I tried this method again last night on a 1901 Indian Head Penny that I found recently, and it came out GREAT also.
Ohio Jerry is the person really responsible for this. He told me how to do it. Check out his "2 Center" thread.
And of course I'll never do anything to clean a silver coin other than rinsing it with warm soapy water.
I learned that the hard way!
