what do you all use for electrolisis (sp?) on larger relics (iron)? I've got the ol' glass & spoon, with a old charger that I use on smaller things...what about the larger things? Thanks , Jim
I've been pretty happy with the set-up I use for larger iron. I've been using it for about a year now. It will cost you about $40 if you don't own a charger already. All you need is:
*Charger *5 gallon bucket (or smaller)*1/4" copper tubing*water*baking soda.
Attached are a few cannonball fragments I just did that came out great.
The stove vent and axe head were my first attempt last year.
If interested PM me & I'll get you some instructions within a few days.
Thanks,
MM
P.S. Sorry the water is a bit cloudy in the picture I was cooking another frag.
Thanks MM, I do have a charger (for boat battery) I understand slow steady (6V - 2Amp) charge is the way to go. Just need to figure out how to attach to relic. Thanks again, Jim
Split a blue 55 gal plastic drum down the side. Add a couple pieces of wood to keep it from rolling. Battery charger, some citric acid, a strip of stainless steel, some wire & alligator clips and you're set to go. I've cleaned up some large tools with this setup. restored a wood lathe, and the bed fit in the drum no problem.
