Dang it Mastiff. Sorry to read.

Revenge can be crossing a line from what's left of innocence.
Be it coyote or large cat;killing one just a start. Where would it end but continual deliberate conflict?
Oh I'm game;but not saintly either. Would not have you in pursuit of suspects with a rifle lest it become an obsession. Priorities get switched in such passion and a person can find the other side of the fence. (Kinda like the vid to follow.)
With small dogs my ear keeps tabs on the yotes here at night, but no guarantee of security for any party.

DO TREASURES HAVE REAL SPIRITS?

Oh! Mi Mancha. The accordion made me smile. And, I feel like Carlota. 60 years to infinity, I will remember little Maddie! And, RC, that was, without a doubt, the most beautiful rendition of Hallelujah, ever! Thank you both, ever so much!

PS. RC, it was a coyote. I know that we need to share this earth, together, I just wish it was different.

I have a room-full of trapping gear that is calling my name. It is. Most certainly. Night vision goggles, the works.

But, I started trapping to rescue animals and put them in a (more) proper habitat, not hurt them. I don't just love the domesticated kind, but the wild ones, too. They are beautiful and fascinating.

How my husband has put up with my adoration of creatures, both great and small, must be a true expression of love.

Our first animal together was a runt bull named T-Bone, who we raised like a dog (before children). Horses, ponies, goats, chickens, reptiles. You name it.

Don Jose'. While living in Mexico, a federale' we knew, gave me a baby lamb (whose mother had died while giving birth) to see if I could save it. My dad can tell you that one over coffee. :) I kept it in the house, bottle-fed it, and used to dance with it and even walked it on a leash from my previous house on Calle Chihuahua to the hacienda. Eventually, when the time came for him to be with other sheep, Don Coleman took him out to his ranch. Thankfully, I can say most of my animal encounters have been grand.

I want to live with and in nature as long as I can. In harmony. That would be ideal.

But, this attack gave me one heck of a sour note! Wrong song for me.

And, as you can imagine the thoughts I have had, picking up the 'pieces' of my broken heart. Literally.

But, I know I could trap hundreds, and it still wouldn't bring back Maddie nor make it right.

There are coyotes in every county in Florida. And, people are having more problems with them. Namely, missing pets. There (other than the gator and cats) are no other predators. So, there population is continuing to grow while we expand into what was once 'their' world.

So, you are definitely right, on 'hold onto the little ones tight'.

Btw, Maddie, in fact, was not one of my Mastiff's. She was the tiniest shih-tzu you have ever seen, with so much kick, and was also my constant side-kick. She stole everyone's heart! Especially mine.

Hug your loved ones, now! This is the moment, cherish all whom you love and hold them close (and keep a snare or steel trap close by, just in case).

Jodie,

One of our favorite songs. You need to hear K.D. Lang's version.

Take care,

Joe

Very sad to hear of your little sidekick.

I sincerely hope the music and everyone's
caring posts, will be a true help to you.

You have always brought light to the place,
and I will always believe you are as close to
a real saint as, we will ever talk to, really mean it,
not just words, anyway that is my Country Gentleman opinion.

Sent out a few cards, I like to send nice ones, Hallmark's
with a snowy covered country road, beside a split rail fence
and green trees this year, and simply wrote: Wishin' you all Peace...

Again, Trapper Girl, sorry you even have to spend any time
hurting for the loss of your little girl. Sounds like she was trying
to do her job patrolling. I miss so many that I lost count. There's
not much I can say or do. When my heart is tore down, there's
not much, but I appreciate sincerity. Good music selections
that you and everyone has picked.

God bless your Treasured Spirit, for
your kind love and care for animals... :fish:

I know how you feel (if its any comfort), my border-collie (my avatar) came under the rear wheel of my truck (on the far side) one evening when we came back after a meal. That just tore my heart out - and even now, 4 years later, whenever I am weeding I can feel her coming up to me and giving me a li'l kiss on my cheek the way she always used to *sigh* They do so get under our skin ...

However, on a more cheerful note, I wish all yall a Merry, Merry Christmas and (hopefully) a Happy and Prosperous New Year!!

Sheppard

DO TREASURES HAVE REAL SPIRITS?

Thanks,Oro. I have my sweet brave girl boots on today and took off the combat kind. :) We are going to let the kids choose the perfect spot to lay her little bones, and move forward. I still have so much to learn about this wonderous world, but the one thing I KNOW, is that she is in GREAT hands. Nuff said. Wiping my sniffles and put my weeping violin back in it's dusty case. Hopefully, I won't have to play it often. Mancha's accordion is a happier choice. Laugh, laugh. Life on life's terms... Even when it's a doozie. Now, I am not ready to quite put on the dancing shoes yet, but am up for some guitars, the smell of Oro's yule tide burning brightly in Crosse's campfire, and last but not least, Santa ( to deliver all of you, a hug from me). And, Loke, you get extra hug. I know exactly how you feel. Music-notes, por favor! Relevant Chair, are you out there somewhere? Ha-ha. You are always needed. Happy Trails (not the ones made of tears).

Was at the VA hospital late last night, Uncle was in much pain,
very uncomfortable, and yet in between squints, and slow breathing
gasps, mostly quiet, except requests for pain relief, he was still his
pleasant and kind spoken self. We tried to comfort him, between
when the nurses and techs came and went. It was hard to see
him in such pain, though admirable to see his patience...

He got a shot, and 45 minutes later, when it was taking effect,
he said, "I think I can go to sleep now". Right before we left,
he said "If the good Lord checks the back door, I've checked
out, I'm ready to go home. He repeated that a couple of
times. Then he happily shook our hands, for a long while,
as if it may be for the last time. A True American Patriot,
he fought a good fight, especially for his modern hillbilly
up bringing. His intriguing stories and treasured spirit,
I will always remember. A decorated Korean war
veteran, and my good friend...

Yes, I wish everyone Peace, and good Holidays
with family. You all know now, I am not a coward.
Nor am I ashamed, and will not go quietly, except,
hopefully, for the tough bravery of my Scotch-Swiss-
Cherokee-Choctaw- Uncle, I have shared... :fish:

Crosse: Hang on to that life's history. Like all your relation each unique.
String music offered as a toast to your uncle. Peace to you.

A deep-hearted tribute to LIFE! his life!

As you all reminded me, and I now remind you, it doesn't end 'here'. 'This' is just the beginning. I know he is safe and free, and just maybe Maddie is right there to greet him?

May your heart feel comfort. Not only for the pain at SUCH a loss to you and your family, but comfort in knowing you HAVE loved.

In my growing experience(s), I find many along this wild journey who really STOP to feel. You have been a very special nephew and quite a friend, to pay such a fine tribute, to such a great man! Wow.

Now, ALL peace, heads your way. A soldier, he was, and you ARE. Ahead we march, knowing it is okay to stop, if we need to, along the way.

A major salute!!!

Thanks again everyone, for the kind words and music for our friend Trapper Girl,
(Mrs. Jodie, sounds like a nice memorial place for her), and also the thoughts
for Uncle. He's hangin' in there. It occurs to me all of the things we did,
and those we didn't find the time, or get everything lined up to do.

But, I left the marvelous big city, with all of it's cool and spirited trappings,
to meet this guy a long time it seems, but just the other day also. Everyone
enjoy your time and good peoples. You all know this, remember to pass on
a kind act. It is really all you can take with you, and follows your status.
People like to call it their legacy, but it's all a matter of record, a robe.
It's never really a loss, or wasted time, the kindness toward others.
Even if it seems to go unnoticed, stored wealth it remains... :treasurechest:

I am encouraged, lighthearted, and enjoying the season, rain,
cold wind, and all. A periodic peek at the sun, I know it will
shine full light, and shade will look good again. Enjoy the
special times everyone. Happy Holidays, and hope your
New Year is bright, and full of real fun and happiness. 8-)

Especially the True Treasures you may seek. :key:

I feel a special Treasured Spirit, that calls like the wind,
ever reminding me of the quality things that only last.
Good memories and friends, treasured forever, 8-)
ancient days living, on thru the past ... :fish:
