I have found a 1794 and 1803 Large Cents. I also found a Spanish piece of eight, but the date was worn off. Ex-girlfriend took the coin when we broke up. These were found about 20 years ago.

More recent older finds include 1826D 1/2 franc, and American coins 1836 Large Cent, a too badly corroded to date Large Cent Coronet style and my favorite find this year, 1853 three cent piece.

I found that my detector was the oldest thing I owned, so I got a better one. Still looking.

Not that experienced or knowlegable of coins. What is the Date Range of a Buffalo Nickel. I found one that didn't have a date on it. I guess it was totally worn off. Other than that, I have found a few Wheats. Oldest I think was about 1944.

So, I would guess the oldest item that I have found is the .45 bullet that I found in our back yard. The numbers on the end of the cartridge indicates 1928.

Only other item I can think of that is of obvious age is the door knob from the school that I went to. However, while I was there, they had these custom knobs on all the main floor offices etc. The school was built in 1915 and I found it out away from the building. Was it an original from the building? That I don't know. It's condition when I found it was pretty bad.

I found a couple of musket balls at a known French/Indian War site (about 300+ years old) and an 1866 Shield nickel.
