Ball and chain ID PLEASE!!!

I've had this ball and chain for 18+ years. I found it in a basement of an apartment I lived at in Watervliet, NY. I have ever been looking for a while with no luck to I'd this ball and chain. Any help would be much appreciated. It weighs around 80-100 lbs.

I noticed this was your very first post Zmcdonald85 - so, Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

Could have been a "left over" from the old prison days. Doubtful
if it's slave related being in NY.

Any markings on it?

Not to knock your ball and chain...
But...
I believe this to be a small demo ball perhaps.

I say this due to the chain size.

IMO of course.

how does the ball connect to the chain
is the chain links welded or forged?

I'm close to you in NY. I lived in Watervliet, NY. 30 years ago.
It's part of a modern wrecking ball chain used on a crane.
That's what you have.
If it came with a leg shackle that I could attach to my wife from shopping so much I would make you an offer on it. :laughing7:
