Small locomotive snap
I found this detecting in SC and have been meaning to post it to see if anyone knows a little background. The locomotive seems to be quite old.

Re: Small locomotive snap
All I can tell you is what I found on the net. I have found them over the years. They are off the overall of the train crew. They can go back to before the civilwar. Not far before the war as most of the railroad expansion took place around the late 1850s. Being an iron back I would think yours may have some age on it. About all I know.

Re: Small locomotive snap
I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines. I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.

Thanks, BigCy.
This post appears to be the exact same button. Finds in the photo are consistent with a 20th c. date as well...

Re: Small locomotive snap
And here I thought it was for a bottle of "Night Train"...
"The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere"

Re: Small locomotive snap
I don't think they are the same. The dug one has a much wider rim around the perimeter. Same style, yes, but not the same button. The one in question seems to be made of iron while the one similar is made of pot metal or some other metal? "I'm just saying.....!" (I was told that if you say that no one can argue with you). M nty
