    Small Bronze Coin Or Jetton?

This one even has Me and Crusader stumped thought it was a Roman when first dug, then when I cleaned the dirt off I thought Jetton, now I'm not sure what it is, Cru suggested a foreign Bronze hammered

Sorry about the pictures, but these are about as good as they get, the reverse is quit poor

Do you think this one looks like it? Unfortunately not much info... but maybe yours has the flower with three lines extending?

And I only found this b/c you taught me the word "quatrefoil"

    http://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/279623

A corroded copper alloy coin like object, probably a jetton, dating from the Medieval period. It has a dark brown patina. It has a diameter of 17.60mm, thickness 1.33mm, weight 1.37g. The sides of the coin/jetton looked to have been clipped. It may also be a coin, perhaps a foreign one. It has not been possible to find a parallel from the few details that are not obscured by corrosion, but some English jettons look to have similar patterns. Probably 12th or 13th century.

    Thickness: 1.33 mm
    Weight: 1.37 g
    Diameter: 17.6 mm

Obverse description: Plain Cross in a double quatrefoil
    Obverse inscription: Illegible
Reverse description: Possible flower with (?) 3 lines extending from it (triqueta?).
    Reverse inscription: Illegible
Degree of wear: Extremely worn: poor

BrambleFind thanks for all your help I did infact Green check this to you, but I have since found out what it is

It is infact a Copper Coin of James 111 (Scotland)1460-1488 also known as a Crossraguel Penny, or Black Penny. Crosraguel pennies, from the abbey at St. Andrews where most of the extent examples were found. It is not for certain whether these were an Ecclesiastical issue that was issued by Bishop James Kennedy, or if they were a regal issue. At any rate, regardless of the issuer, they must have not been popular as they have never been found in any quantity aside from the Crosraguel hoard.

Fantastic! That is a very interesting link While I was very happy to be a part of a green check I'm glad this is really a total green check now because I too wanted to know what it is. Great work in tracking down the mystery!
