    5 point brass star, Who wears it?

    5 pointed star, found at park in MN, l

    Metal:Brass

    Size:1 inch from edge to edge

    not copper or metal, would of been rusty, no rust ,

    heavy like a half dollar

    No makers marks

    does have a metal backing,

    location: Old hospital from 1800's used to be a block away, gone for years

    what type of military relic would be here and why in MN?

    I don't think it is brass because brass turns green, this is most likely bronze. Maybe military medallion .

    Those are used by different organizations in different sized to recognize years of service. The Boy Scouts have them and there is usually a number in the center. Our local police use them just like he one you have and one is put on the left sleeve for everything here years of service. Also used for security officers.

    The pictures sure look like one.

    How thick is that piece on the back? If it is thick it could be a drawer pull if it isnt thick and just corroded its probably a service star.

    I also see it as a drawer pull remnant... If you chewed off the excess of the item below, the diameter would be right and it may account for the outer lip on the one above: Hardware House 64-4336 Texas Star Style Cabinet Knob, Antique Pewter - Amazon.com
