Silver found in outer banks, nc

I found this piece of silver in the outer banks this morning and have no clue what it is. Can someone help me out? Is it a piece of 8? It's pretty toasted, tested positive for silver and there are some markings specifically a cross on the backside Click image for larger version.

Looks like it could be a cut piece of eight with a necklace hole to me.

I don't see the cross, looks like melted aluminum can to me. I have seen other melted AL that tested positive for silver depending on what test was done. Problem with some testing methods is that they only test gold or silver, you should test it for AL.

Second picture of the second set I see a clear cross upper right on it. Looks like pirate treasure my friend. I am heading there in August. Would you mind sharing which area of OBX that came out of?
