Ivan's --unknown --mid 1700 to early 1800 Bronze or Brass Item with photo!!!

Here's a "unknown" goodie ----- cast brass or bronze dimpled on the outside---think it's mid 1700's to early 1800's---say about 1763 to 1820 era more or less. What is it?

nope " my wife" mary ann hince the "ma"---- joined up and helped post it using her computer---since I am picture posting challaged --- I can't seem to get the hang of it with my computer ---she however is more computer savvy then me---any idea on the item?---Ivan

yes it thas 3 legs and can stand up--- two in front one in the rear ----the rear one is located in the middle ---there is a gap between the front and rear legs of about 1/8 of an inch or so ---think the object might have "clamped" something between the front legs and the rear one at one time --the 2 front legs have a slight outward sweep to them and the 2 front legs -- tip ends are bent a bit inwards slightly -- the inner (back) leg is a bit wider plus its heavier and thicker and not quite as long as the front legs---the front or outward facing surface has a "dimpled" look (kinda like a golf ball) to it ---it has no markings of any kind on it except the "dimpling" pattern and is not magnetic---appears to be bronze or brass to me----items from the mid 1700's to earely 1800's found in the general area---(mostly english and spanish stuff)

seems odd for that ---but heck so far its the only guess --the photo is just a bit larger than life size---Ivan
