Looks like pot metal. I would say 40's or 50's. Those are awesome! Did you find them together?

I really like them. I'd say 40's to 60's. When I was a tadpole in the 60's, I had a sheriffs' badge myself.

Was there a doughnut shop located nearby? Just kidding. Great find on the badges.

Not sure about the bottom one, but I got a brand new Junior Sheriff's badge (just like that one) when I was a kid - so 1950's is a good bet.

I dug one similar to yours that says Private Detective and was told it was from the 40’s too. They’re really solid for being just toys.

It looks like there may have been a glass eyeball in the private detective's badge. I can't find an image of either one on the internet.

I found an exact match to the star shaped badge in Wisconsin. I too was wondering if it was from the 1940-1950's. Neat to have that confirmed. Congrats on some really cool finds!
