    Lead/Pewter Disk

I found this today, first time out metal detecting all year. I dug it in the woods behind my house, in what was once my house's farm fields through the 1740's until the late 1800's. My only other find today, in the half an hour I was there was an 1820's flat button. I see what looks like writing or a design on the edge of the disk, at 12 o clock on the first photo. It also looks like it is made from two layers when viewed from the edge. It doesn't seem as heavy as I would expect a lead disk of this size, which makes me think that it is alloyed with something, maybe tin. What do you guys think this item is?

    Large cent for size.

I think it is an old bale seal, looks like two pieces of thin lead joined together by that blob on the back, and clamped with some tool, leaving the three rectanglar shapes you can see if you look closely at the blob.
