Maybe if you knew where he lived you might be able to find a gun maker near there in that era? Beautiful shotgun.

Does it have hammers? My eyes are still a little wonky from cataract surgery. My grandfather had a similuar shotgun but never saw it outside of a photo of him with his hounds. I have a Remington which looks like your gun but the name is fairly clesr.

The bottom right photo. Are the letters, LCS? If so depending on wear, it's very collectable. L C Smith co.

    Nice !!
    Looks heavy (and heavy-duty).

One thing's for sure, the "AF" doesn't stand for Abercrombie & Fitch!

I would also like to commend you for your stack of LP's in the corner.

Yes it is missing 1 hammer though. I think the Remingtons had wood on the barrel side too

I can't make those out. I was thinking AF with the circle around it might be the best clue but I do not know the first thing about those marks haha

I only know enough to get myself in trouble ID'n almost anything, so take this with just a helpful eye.
Your picture is to dark for me to see if it is a hammered or hammerless, breech loader or muzzle loader shotgun.
The marks on the bottom of the barrel are the proofs and the 11 is it's gage.
The maker might be found on the top ridge between the barrels at the breech end, rear tang or could be on the sidelock.
Cool double in an unusual gage.
I've included a few pic's plucked from the web to maybe help.

Thanks for the tips! It's hammered, break barrel, 2 triggers. I searched the whole gun and only found those marks
