Not sure if it’s a coin. I’m afraid to try to clean it up more to try to read the writing. About the size of a silver dollar. Any idea what it is? Thanks

    Hi Mike,

Unfortunately, your pics are very small which make it impossible to expand to see the details.
Looks to be a commemorative token immortalizing a government official of some sort.

The type of clothes the figure is wearing will help you to at least get a date range.

I agree with Cru, upon closer inspection you can see writing around the boarder.
Did an online search and found similar Lincoln Campaign Tokens but not this exact one.

The clothing the sitter is wearing looks more like a CW military uniform, so who knows?
A close-up of the reverse side would be helpful as well.

Thanks for the information.....I’ve been looking online also, but can’t find a match. I found it near an old farm house that was built in the mid to late 1800s. Any ideas on how to clean it up better? Thanks Click image for larger version.

To me it looks more like General Grant. See the uniform. Here is an image that looks the same. Not exactly the same token, but the image.

I tried to edit your photos but they are a little out of focus. Take a picture in natural daylight but not direct sunlight and back your camera/phone up to about 12"s away. That should give us a clearer image.

I agree, you're too close to the object, your camera is focusing on the background as opposed to the foreground.
I attempted to clean your pic up and can see see writing at the top and possibly at the bottom.

I think I figured it out. I put it under a cheap microscope that I remembered my kids had. I believe the heads side says “ bicentennial of Greene county” & under the person it says “ Nathaniel Greene” . The top of the tails side says “1798”......I will post better picks tonight. Thanks for the help.
