  • Greetings Detector guy , im new in the industry , im so interested in starting metal detecting especially along my nearest beach in Umhlanga & maybe the main busy beaches , please kindly advice if there are any rules i need to follow or permission to use a metal detector at the beach?
Im planning on getting a metal detector this coming april ..Thank you very Much
Just bought a fisher 1280 x first time out with it spent two hours on the beach. knew this was going to be a great detector and the first 5 min had ten coins in the bag I moved to the wet sand. Had to much false tones does any one have any experience with this machine what's the best setting to use in shallow salt water. moved back to the dry sand, had a tone almost every step. I realise that theres few if nobody doing M.D. on my beach so hopefully good things to come I am keen to get in the water but will have to wait for the right day for it ,as our waves are approximately 5 feet high everyday and I can feel all the gold in the water. In the two hours I was on the beach I found 116 objects. Fishing weights plenty coins loads of nails spark plugs for some unknown reason. My best find was a ronson lighter, which amazingly worked when it dried out. If anything I am going to make money with the lead weights I found a lot maybe two kg was getting a sore back from carrying it
